The Second Serving of SoundCream Light is for Second Chances. It is for September, my favorite month of the year, when school is back in session, bringing us all back together from our summer frolics and flights of fancy. It is for having let go, and looking ahead. It is for protecting your magic, but still letting yourself see the magic in others. It is for forgiving yourself and lessons learned.
This set is packed with new releases from this summer, notably “What A Life” by Steve Appleton, John Summit, and GUZ, released on July 29. In my usual SoundCream fashion, I’ve mirrored an artist across the arc, this time being David Penn remixes as both the second and penultimate tracks. The ending is also a double-hitter from The Shapeshifters, including the beautifully performed “Finally Ready” with Billy Porter. You will also hear a song that I feel fully captures my energy and sound I love in “Good Thing” by Lily McKenzie, released this January. When it comes on, I simply cannot contain myself.
