SOUNDCREAM LIGHT.

SoundCream Light is a bubbly, bright mixture of Nudisco, House, Tech House, grooves and tunes.

Music for Sundays, 2p-10p.

SoundCream Light is for mind, body, and soul. It is for the days of the discotheque and the kids of clubland. It is for life slowing down just enough for a better life on and off the dancefloor. SoundCream Light is for everybody.

When I was developing SoundCream during Spring 2021, I intended it to follow the arc of my perfect Sunday in New York. It begins with me starting at home after leaving the club Saturday night, meeting up with friends to head to Alegria Sunrise, and moving on to Ultramaroon that evening before heading back to a kiki to wrap the weekend. The arc generally flowed from 122 BPM of house up to three big room tracks reaching 130 BPM, and back down to 122 of tech house over the course of 80 minutes. This all was based off a memory of what my perfect Sundays used to be before 2020. When NYC opened back in July 2021 and I could resume my travels between North and South, I found things a bit different than I remembered. The Sunrise of 2017/18 no longer exists. The music and entire scene has changed. I’ve changed too. But that’s NYC honey. Nothing lasts forever and neither should it. As my dear friend John A advised me after his 70 years of life, “Live in the moment, Daisy. And the rest will come.”

So as I closed out a year of SoundCream and all the stories I had planned for it, I was ready for its next chapter I had been anticipating since the New Year – SoundCream Light. This iteration slows things down a touch, ranging from 120 - 126 BPM, following me instead as I prepare my lqqk with friends, arrive at Ultramaroon, pop into the Eagle NYC, and jet back down South where I may enjoy the tail end of a porch party or work on my new set in the DXD studio. The three big room tracks have been cut for a total of 12 tracks, adding a splash of Nudisco. It is something both my Northern and Southern friends can enjoy as I start to build my presence in Birmingham and beyond. And SoundCream in its original formula will return for its Thirteenth Serving when it is ready.

My primary goal for the past year was to reassert myself in New York City, reminding everyone that its nightlife is still my passion and heart. With that accomplished, I want to now also share focus on building my name and events in the South, sharing that passion for the music with folks where I am from. It is my Daisy self giving time to my David self, an act of balance for a better life.

With that in mind, I have two tracks of note that reference Alabama. I open with the highly-acclaimed remix that gooped all the gurls - the ONLY Nita Aviance Club Remix of Break my Soul by Beyoncé, released August 4 alongside remixes by Honey Dijon and Terry Hunter. You will also hear Lionel Richie’s sensational All Around the World remix by Bob Sinclair. With Beyoncé’s family roots in the South and Richie an Alabama native, I felt these properly incorporated my respect for my Southernness I have learned to embrace these past few years.

This set is dedicated to C and Mia, and features a selection of Nudisco tracks I pulled for your Disco Garden, which built on the inspiration for SoundCream Light. Enjoy.
