SOUNDCREAM REMIXED SECOND.
SoundCream Remixed is a bubbly mixture of house, tech house, grooves and tunes.
Music for Sundays, 2-10pm.
SoundCream Remixed Second is sexy. It features several classic tracks that I knew I loved before I had ever step foot in a proper club. For this month’s fresh feature, I’m so proud to include Tedd Patterson’s Club Remix of, “Feel So Right,” feat. Honey Dijon by Louie Vega, released August 18 by Nervous Records. I had the honor of interviewing Tedd along with David Harness for UltraMaroon this past season as well as the fortune of standing next to him in line for a brief chat as we boarded the ferry to the Pines, where he would go on to completely turn the Closing Party in his most overdue Pines Party debut. I caught up with him again to hear more about this remix that you will hear in the middle of SoundCream Remixed Second.
DXD: How did you get started on the remix project?
TEDD: I ran into Louie when he was presenting Honey an award at the Leslie Lohman Museum. We share a lot of history doing club gigs and touring over the years. After a friendly hug-out and catch-up, I told him I wanted to do a remix for the track that he and Honey had done together. I told him I wanted to sissy it up a little and give it a li’l bump and wiggle. He excitedly agreed and said, “Yeah, yeah!”
Personally I think that album is one of the best to have surfaced in years in the house music arena. It should have been nominated for a Grammy – one of his very best, but I digress. Initially the remix came about as a labor of love. I share a rich history with both Honey and Louie. I love and respect them both.
DXD: Adding your touch to this track by Louie and Honey gives us a trifecta of New York House Heroes. What was your approach for the Club Remix to represents the NYC sound?
TEDD: Thanks for the kind props. My initial approach was to make it stomp and to make it swing! I always have this laugh with Quentin Harris that we both want a, “Yes, but will the kids walk to it?” moment. So I sometimes have it mind when I wanna do a dub. In this case, the first three attempts in studio to create the right remix failed. What you hear is effort number five as the main Club Mix and effort number four as the Feels Tight Dub Mix. The Dub Mix happened first, then I spun it off. I had fun shopping up Honey’s vocal and rewording it to say something different: “Feels Tight!” I didn’t make the effort to sound New York, but it’s where I’m deeply rooted, so naturally my inspiration shows up in the mix. Hurray for us!
“I couldn’t be happier that the remix is doing so well and has become so supported. It took me by surprise. I’m glad that my labor of love has come back to me in this way.” – Tedd patterson
Thank you Tedd! You can get both remixes for your own library here as well as those by Seth Troxler, Nicole Moudaber, and DJ Deep. Enjoy.
