SOUNDCREAM LIGHT | SERVING NINETEEN.
SoundCream Light is a bubbly, bright mixture of house, tech house, nudisco, grooves and tunes.
Music for Sundays, 2p-10p.
Serving Nineteen of SoundCream Light is the High Church: Revival tribute to a Chicago legend, the Minister of Sound, Ron Carroll.
Carroll passed into the next life on September 21, 2025, bequeathing us a legacy of music that will continue to uplift people across the globe for many years to come. His music career began as DJ in the late 80’s, leading to the release of his first record in 1993, “My Prayer,” which is considered one of the first gospel house productions. His work is highly influenced by his upbringing as a vocalist in church, shaping his future as one of the greatest in the genre. Throughout his life, Carroll fully embodied the soul and funk of the house sound.
To mark the vernal equinox with spring in bloom and Easter hot on its trail, I have gathered here today an extended selection of his original works, standout remixes, and vocal collaborations in dedication to his memory. Prepare to be taken to church by his hands, and remember that religion is not one thing, but all things. Your god may be my dance floor, and vice versa. One is all, all is one.
Ron Carroll’s work has been a common thread through all of SoundCream and his message resonates strongly with me. I believe we share an ethos that guides my own work: If we can all come together, everything will be Alright.
As I continue to now deliver SoundCream on a quarterly schedule, I am happy to share some of my art inspiration, which stands on its own from the mix. This serving’s art is derived from the opening sequence of a formative anime I first loved as a child, Yu Yu Hakusho, based on the work of mangaka, Yoshihiro Togashi.
As we shift into spring, I encourage you to find Hope in what uplifts you and to uplift those that give you Hope in return. Help your neighbor in need. Clean out that closet! Listen to music that moves you. Enjoy.
