SUPERSOUNDCREAM.
SoundCream by DavidXDaisy is a bubbly mixture of house, tech house, grooves, and tunes to move you.
Music for Sundays, 7a - 7p.
SuperSoundCream is for the Music. It is for what moves me and grooves me. It is for the heartbeat of the dancefloor and the cadence of our lives. It is for what brings us together, transcending all other languages we have created. It is for the Answers we find in its rhythm, allowing us to leave our problems on the dancefloor.
I came up with the visual direction of SoundCream in fall of 2020. I knew that would be the identity for my initial release of recorded sets, but I had yet to determine what exactly the sound would be. I went with what I love and know best – Sundays. I created the SoundCream formula to represent a journey through my perfect Sunday during the years of 2018-19, starting with getting in from the club around 7am, and playing some chill house music to prepare for my day. The sets would start around 122/124 BPM and follow me to a peak at Alegria Sunrise around 130 BPM, often featuring big room tracks, and arc down to a tech house vibe at Ultramaroon in the evening before a poignant, uplifting ending back at 124 BPM to close out each monthly release around 1hr20min.
With that formula, I began to tell some of the stories of myself, my experiences, and my point of view. My set structure was very specific. To shape the arc narratives, I would often place tracks by the same artists on mirrored sides of the arc. So the fourth track in the set may be a classic Rosabel, with one of their fab remix productions fourth from the end as well. My sets are like my outfits – more meaning, history, and layers than anyone would ever know, but are the essence of my creative direction.
After a year of these monthly releases, I’ve told the stories I had planned from the start and now want to continue elevating my work. I wanted this month’s set to be long, and I wanted it to be correct. This is the first SoundCream to be entirely harmonically mixed, taking a full rotation on the Camelot Wheel, with the only story being told is that of beautiful house and tech house music that I love and hope will reach you somewhere you need.
I’ve included 32 tracks to mark my 32nd year. I’m so thankful for these monthly releases because they have done more for me than I could have imagined. They’ve been a place of refuge, celebration, and sweet salvation as I continue to follow my North Star. When I feel lost, I put on my headphones and am found. It is then extra joy that some of you have found solace in the songs I select as well. Thank you for listening.
I began writing again in 2019 to restart my creative engine. And that fire is only continuing to burn brighter and find new ways of expression. So thank you to everyone that pushed me, supported me, doubted me, and inspire me. The best is yet to come. Special shout out to C, Jaja, Tom Louise, my Ratz, Michael, Frankie, DanGene, David, Eli, and so many more for believing in my sound.
This set is full of fab productions by some of my favorite artists, with many being very recently released. I would most like to note the most recent, What I Need by Mark Knight and Retna, released on July 1, as well as Spirit of House by Ron Carroll, Milk & Sugar, and CASSIMM, released on June 24. I’ve had the pleasure to share some great new music via SoundCream, sometimes the actual same day as they were dropped on Beatport. I plan to continue doing so as I begin my next chapter of releases – SoundCream Light. Starting in August, my monthly sets will have a slight variation as I refocus my perspective on what my perfect Sunday is now. This SuperSoundCream absolutely represents that and more. Enjoy!
