SOUNDCREAM | SERVING TWENTY.

SoundCream is a Harder & Stronger Mixture of House, Tech House, and Techno.

Music for Saturday Nights.

Serving Twenty of SoundCream is for Pride 2025. It’s an odd year to celebrate Pride, but it is more important than ever for us to share in its memory and future. When injustice and fear gain strength, it is up to us to rise together yet again as those before us paved the way to do so. As Marsha P. Johnson said, “You never completely have your rights, one person, until you all have your rights.”

As folx continue to organize, resist, and recharge together, I wanted to reflect on that with this serving and its fresh selections, featuring some fierce queer creators. I’ve opened with the latest from UK powerhouse, Jess Bays, with the gorgeous voices of Jem Cooke and Kelli-Leigh. I’ve yet again resonated with the remix works of Sainte Francis and Brady Prince who are queer production masters-in-the-making that you should be watching. I’m also proud to see the darling David and Claudio back in the studio together with their new direction in music as DNC. On a personal note, I’m looking forward to welcoming Baby Weight to play for us at Milk & Honey in BHM this Friday after having become a major fan of her work over the past year.

I especially want to highlight “Beautiful,” from the only Kevin Aviance. A few weeks ago, I was driving back from Farm Camp when I saw the news of Kevin’s hospitalization and health scare. As I considered the possibility the news could have been worse, I thought deeply about how much of an impact Kevin Aviance has had on us all. Personally, I am so grateful for my few NYC moments in passing with Kevin as we all earn with enough time and grit in the city. Real talk seated on the stage of Battle Hymn as the queens waited in line for their coats. A photo shoot celebrating Kevin for Pride at the office on Fifth Avenue. Many dance floor twirls as Kevin turned the DJ booth for the children. How fortunate we are to have had not only the Kevin Aviance of yore that set the club standard, but to witness the Renaissance of Kevin Aviance sharing the Work with the next generation. Kevin embodies what it means to be a New York City Icon of Art, Fierceness, and Beauty, and his latest release is a testament to exactly that. Enjoy.
