Serving Twelve of SoundCream Light is The Lost Edition.
I was recently editing some of my work when I noticed a discrepancy in my catalog. Between a seasonal shift between SoundCream and its Light sister, I had missed Serving Twelve and gone directly to Thirteen. At first I amused myself by calling it the lost edition, but as I began pulling together tracks that resonate with me for recording, I realized that it aligns with where I am currently.
Five years ago, I set a path ahead of me that I went down kicking and screaming. Leaving Atlanta after a year from NYC and heading back to Alabama felt like the worst thing I could possibly do, but the opportunity was more fateful than I could have imagined. My time here has provided me the perfect creative space to grow as an artist and to tie loose ends into complete circles so neatly that it assures me I have been exactly where I was meant to be. But that time is ending soon.
I do not feel lost within myself. I feel lost with the path ahead of me. My next step remains unseen, but the best things in my life have always been the same. This is the time I must commit to my mantra: Follow Your North Star.
The selection that best highlights this sentiment is, “Gonna Do,” the first release from the new formation of Earth n Days. This DJ duo originally formed by Zsak and László in 2017 is one of my most consistent inclusions in sets. As it happens, Zsak is right up there as well with his own productions. This year, László departed the duo with Agebeat of Crazibiza joining Zsak. It gives me hope to see Earth n Days continue in its evolution that I may do the same with another time of transition ahead of me. The last time was tough. I almost didn’t make it through. But The Music found me and has taken me this far. I know we have miles to go before we sleep.
Another major highlight is the eye-welling, “Can You?” from one of my top rising global artists, Jess Bays, with vocalist Hayley May, released this July with Good Company. When Someone From Berlin introduced Jess to UltraMaroon in 2023, I instantly saw her stardom in my research for our interview together. Meeting her and her girlfriend, Jade, in the hallway at UM, I recognized someone touched with a gift that required sharing. Her productions are mainstays for me and her continued success will only continue to raise the vibration of audiences everywhere.
Major shoutout to Qubiko for “Moving On,” the freshest ID in this serving released with HouseU on August 8. I delayed this recording to include after it hit my ears the day it was shared on SoundCloud, hoping it would fit harmonically. It found its rightful spot and I am sure will be doing the same across clubs this fall. Enjoy.
